Overview

A unique investment opportunity in one of Kent’s most desirable villages.

In December ’24 full planning permission, reference 24/01438/FUL, was granted by Sevenoaks District Council to convert the existing building into four apartments along with the construction of a single, detached dwelling on the land to the rear. The property is a stunning, Grade II listed building, in good condition and currently being used as an office.

The conversion of The White House:

The design by OPEN Architecture minimises work to the existing floor plans whilst optimising the layouts for each of the units. Both of the ground floor apartments will be spacious and have direct access to the gardens. The units on the first and second floors will occupy a whole floor each, be bathed in sunshine and enjoy views over the garden.

The converted dwelling is set to deliver the following:
Flat 1 – 585 sqft, 1 bed
Flat 2 – 677 sqft, 1 bed
Flat 3 – 1206 sqft, 2 bed but can be 3
Flat 4 – 1144 sqft, 1 bed but can be 2 or 3

The new build dwelling:

The principal for the overall build is to be subservient to The White House. The new build house is positioned at the furthest, most southerly point from The White House without encroaching on the green belt land. The property will be positioned a good distance from The White House and will have a generous, south facing garden.

The materials proposed in the application are in the local, Kentish vernacular, typical of both existing and new dwellings in Brasted with the red/orange brick at lower level and white weatherboarding above and wrapping around all sides.

The internal layout can be adjusted to meet the requirements of the end-user.

Location

Brasted is a popular village with a sense of community and local charm.
It offers a selection of traditional pubs, small independent shops, and services for residents but the village’s proximity to Sevenoaks (about 4 miles away) provides access to a wider range of amenities, including schools, shops, and recreational facilities.  Less than 2 miles in the other direction is the charming village of Westerham with an array of eateries and pubs.
The village is not far from the M25, which provides easy access to London and Gatwick Airport. The local railway stations in Sevenoaks and Otford offer regular services to London. Nearby attractions include:
  • Knole Park: This expansive park and deer sanctuary surrounding the magnificent Knole House offers scenic walking routes and a glimpse into the area’s aristocratic history
  • The North Downs: Brasted lies at the foot of the North Downs, an area of outstanding natural beauty perfect for hiking, cycling, and outdoor activities
  • Hever Castle: Just a short drive from Brasted, this historic castle is famous for being the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII

Build & Refurbishment Options

If required we can introduce prospective buyers to the project architects as well as a number of reputable, local contractors to quote on any required works. Most of our self-build buyers choose to work with a main contractor on a fixed-price build contract, with monthly payments in arrears where all works are overseen by a qualified chartered surveyor.
Please note that the site is not accessible to the public and site visits are strictly by appointment only.
